What is Big Data? Big data is not only huge,but also has various styles and fast circulation speed. It is hard to manage and analysis inexisting technologies.
3 components of Big Data- 3V Volume Variety Velocity
Volume It is increasing that even general companies handle data size of terabyte ~ petabyte. Among the us companies, there are more than one third of corporations secure 10TB size of analyzed data
Variety Each data has all different size and contents, so more than 90% of data is hard to arrange in integrated structure. ex) video, music, text message of social media, medical record etc.
Velocity The time required to distribution and application after data generation shorten from several hours~ weeks to minutes, seconds. ex) The news of Bin Ladens death retwitted 5000 per a minute
Now the world is in "Big Data" environment which is explosively increasing data. Because of Big data, difficulties occurred in capture, storage, search, sharing, analytics and visualizing and management of data.
(One current feature of big data is the difficulty working with it using relational databases and desktop statistics/visualization packages, requiring instead "massively parallel software running on tens, hundreds, or even thousands of servers".)
Big data which is schema-less and unstructured type of data already exists for several years. But lack of mgt capability on huge and unstructured data, it was thrown out or used as a sample. However as tech grows, there’s a possibility of analyze Big data.
Big data can be used to create added value on business.
Therefore, the importance of analytics is growing faster than at any time in history. Thus, It is time we need profound comprehension of Big Data and insight of opportunity it will create.
